{Why my Husband's a Genius}

We have been wracked with car issues of late. Of the three cars we have in our driveway, not one of them was working... Talk about stress city. The first of the three to go down was my mom and Mark's pickup. It was having shifting issues then boom , it stopped running all together. Although I was driving it at the time, kids in tow and about 14 bags of groceries in the back, I was blessed that it didn't choose to die until the moment I pulled into my driveway...sticking halfway into the street, but at least I was home. The Acura my Dad was kind enough to pass along to us when we returned from Texas had been having issues pretty much since we'd owned it with overheating. Finally we took it into a mechanic who basically threw his hands up as the mysterious cooling system seemed to have them all baffled. Desi, undaunted, proceeded to rip into the car to replace the waterpump, which seemed to be the only logical solution. This, however, required taking most of the engine apart, including the removal of the timing belt. For those of you who may know a bit about cars, the timing belt is probably the most touchy part of the car to reassemble b/c if it's off just a bit you can destroy your engine. Although Desi did everything by the book, took it apart and reassembled it 4 times, it still is not functioning. So when we were down to our last vehicle, our Jetta, it too began to act up and was going to cost us around $600 to have fixed. Desi again came to the rescue and saved us about $400 doing the work himself any spare moment he had. Thanks to his hard work (and many generous friends and family members that volunteered a car to get us to and from work) our Jetta is back in action. We are still down a car, but hopefully we can get a prfessional out here to adjust the delicate timing and be back in action fully. Here's to you my super-hero husband! Thanks for all your hard work!
