Anectdotes

I just had to write this stuff down before I forget. First of all, it was the most heartwarming moment for me today when Desi came home. Aiden sat up from nursing and grinned when he saw his Daddy walk in the door. He stood up on the couch and giggled to get Desi's attention. I stood him up on the floor behind the sofa and he then proceeded to crawl furiously for his Dad... Desi then swept him up in his arms and greeted his "Buddy". I can't tell you how awesome that moment was to me. I know Desi's always wanted that instant excitement of "Daddy's Home!!!!" from his kids and Jillian hasn't always been so obliging, being the stubborn little thing she can be =>Don't get me wrong, she Looooo-ves her Daddy, but this sort of welcome home has never really come naturally. So in short, it was sooooooooo special to me (and hopefully to Desi) that Aiden shows this unabashed adoration for his Dad. I just love it that it was unprompted and totally genuine. What a neat moment...

The next is a conversation between Desi and Jillian that cracked me up b/c she was practically quoting what I tell her all the time: I guess I'm a bit extreme in my paranoia, you'll see what I mean when you read this:

Jillian: There's a buuug on the wall over there, Daddy.

Desi: What?

Jillian: A Buuu-uug, Daddy. Can you get 'eem (him).

Desi: Yeah, I'll get 'eem, and I'll eat 'im.

Jillian: (face panicked) NO, Daddy! You can't eat im!!

Desi: (looking like the cat that ate the cream) Yes, I can! I'll get im and eat im up!

Jillian: (even more horrified) No, No, Daddy, you can't do that you'll get sick!

Desi: Yes, I can, I'm gonna get that bug and eat im up! Mmmm!

Jillian: (still looking worried) You don't wanna eat im, that's yucky! You can eat im if you wanna get sick and puke all over!

Desi: (trying not to laugh and feigning worry) Oh, Okay then. I guess I won't eat him.

Elyse: (trying not to crack up)

I guess I get a bit descriptive when describing what can happen when a person eats something they shouldn't... => Is that such a bad thing?

Mmmm...sippy!

Aiden is growing up soooo fast! He still doesn't say Mama...really...he sort of jabbers nananana at me when I get him up from his crib, so I don't know what to make of that. However, he definitely mimicks, "uh-oh" after me when he drops something. Of course, it sounds more like "uh-uh" => He also knows high-five. What a littl charmer he is. He is all about the sippy cups these days too. He loves to be in control. I just love that little man...

Alright...I know, enough with the Cinderelli...

Don't you love the hair => Those pesky bangs => Cinderella in the dirt-clod-pile that is our back yard yet.

Ready for a swim...

Jillian found her little swimmer diapers from last summer at Grammy's the other day. I told her Cousin Natalie was going to be here this summer and we could swim with her in the Jamison Park fountain by Grammy's house. So this is her idea of a swimming outfit. She was ready to go to the fountain => Oh, I included Aiden in his "swimming diaper" as Jilly called it =>

Jillian-a-go-go

Jillian spent her first weekend away with Nana and Papa last weekend. They drove over to Pilot Rock (near Pendelton) and spent all day Saturday hunting for Morel mushrooms in the mountains. She had the time of her life and wasn't even the least bit home sick. I'll have to get the picture of Jillian on Aunt Trini's child-size motor cycle in her hot-pink tutu, it's pretty adorable. Anyhoo, the point of these pictures I posted its to demonstrate how much stuff Jillian likes to pack with her wherever she goes. My Mother-in-law was in stitches. I think we counted like 6 purses among other things piled high. It was a sight to see as she hobbled to the car loaded down.

Summer-Shine

For the past few days we have experienced blissful weather here in Oregon. It's just heavenly. Jillian and Aiden enjoyed playing in the park, and I enjoyed the warm breeze and watching them. Here are a few from this evening.

Fun decorating

So here is Aiden's name on his wall in all it's glory. I'm planning on putting up a wall shelf for some fun kiddo decor, but I'm not sure of the placement just yet. I never thought I'd be so paranoid of poking unnecessary holes in the walls. => The guest bathroom was my first real foray into drilling holes myself (Desi has done this so far => ) It was fun and I like the simple modern look. The bright green vase with the bright purple azaleas transport me to the 60's not the look I'm going for really, but the crisp shine of the towel bar and white towels make me feel like I'm at a spiffy hotel. That's really what I'm after. I love decorating, it's so fun to explore different ideas...

Cinderella Outfit

This is for you momma! Aunt Adie bought Jillian a fabulous new Cinderella outfit, complete with matching flip-flops and shades. She is totally cool now => Thanks Auntie Adrienne!
